Mundays make a splash at Weybridge Community Regatta.

Two brave teams of rowers took part in the Weybridge Community Regatta organised by Weybridge Rowing Club. One of our boats consisted of relatively seasoned rowers whilst the other boat’s only real experience of being on the water was the odd ferry crossing or relaxing on a lilo on holiday. Both teams stepped up to the challenge of the Regatta with the more experienced team winning their category in the 600m Time Trial which started off the day. The less experienced team came out of nowhere in the afternoon heats and got through to the semi finals, proving that with a lot of enthusiasm a lack of experience can sometimes be overcome. They also won the team “Ergo” (static rower) challenge so both teams enjoyed some time on the podium!

It was a great event and our teams and spectators enjoyed meeting the volunteers from Weybridge Rowing Club and other local businesses taking part in the event. If you’re based in and around Weybridge and would like to take part in the event next year then you can find more information here. Absolutely no prior rowing experience is needed, it’s a really great day and fantastic for bringing teams together!
